Announcing our First Ever Web Hosting Meet & Greet

Important update:  Since a lot of people are going to have to spend the next few days cleaning up after Hurricane Sandy, we’re cancelling this event.  Stay tuned for a rescheduled date!

Coffee cup with an "@" symbolOver the past few months, we noticed an interesting trend in our sales inbox.  Day after day, the same questions kept coming in over and over.  The details were always a little different, but the fundamental concerns were the same.  And as happy as we are to answer every single one of them, it dawned on us:  there is a massive amount of misinformation out there when it comes to web hosting.  Between the dubious marketing claims of fly-by-night “discount” hosts and the wonders of affiliate marketing, it’s virtually impossible to find simple, unbiased answers when it comes to web hosting.  No matter how hard you try, it always feels like the answers have someone else’s best interests — or profits — in mind.

And we’re going to do something about that.

This Tuesday (October 30, 2012), we’re hosting a casual, relaxed, informal Q&A session at Little Amps Coffee Roasters in Harrisburg from 10 till noon.  Stop by, pull up a chair, grab a coffee, and say hi.  We’ll even buy you a coffee (no specialty drinks; while supplies last) just for dropping by!

This isn’t a sales pitch.  It’s not a marketing gimmick.  It’s a chance to drop by and chat with fellow coffee lovers about all things web hosting.  We’re web hosting experts, and we want to share our knowledge to help build better, more educated consumers.  We want you to learn how to spot marketing double-speak.  We want you to understand the difference between a Tier I and a Tier IV datacenter.  We want to arm you with enough information that you’ll be able to make sensible, educated decisions when it comes to choosing a hosting company — whether it’s us or someone else.

The hosting industry has undergone some significant changes over the past few years.  Between the advent of CDNs, the proliferation of reseller accounts (or our own personal favorite, reseller resellers), or the rise of accelerated hosting, the rules from just five years ago don’t apply anymore.  And unfortunately, a lot of less-than-reputable hosts have capitalized on this by throwing around terms like “cloud hosting” or “enterprise class” when they really don’t apply.

So whether you want to talk about Fresh Roasted Hosting in particular or web hosting in general, drop by, pull up a chair, and ask away.  We’ll be in the house from 10 until noon — though the free coffee may run out sooner.  Just look for the guy with the comically oversized laptop and say hi.  And if you do decide you’d like to sign up, we’ll be having some special one-day-only discounts for anyone who stops by!

Consumers are getting smarter.  Spread the word.
